The spines with gilt-stamped title and date, the interleaves with a similar mosaic pattern as on the covers, the lining in olive morocco with a gilt-stamped border. Slipcase. Flawless copy, illustrated with 30 color compositions (portrait of Rétif on the front cover, 11 head-ornaments, 10 culs-de-lampe, one of which is repeated on the cover, and 8 large in-text images) and 9 initials.
Edition of 420 copies, one of 10 on Japan Imperial (3rd edition on this 2nd paper, No. 30) with double-suites of etchings, each signed by the artist.
